Elmwood Animal Care Unit Closure

Today we've had confirmation that SRUC will close the animal care unit at Elmwood at the end of the current academic year.

The confirmation of this closure is a massive blow to students at the unit, as well as staff who have provided excellent education over many years.

The students supported by Elmwood and the Care Unit are not always able financially or otherwise to travel to alternative campuses and won’t be able to gain the same experiences from an online version of the course.

Students have benefited from being able to learn in their community and it has helped to support them into positive destinations and spring boarded them into employment.

It feels as though the SRUC has never considered their needs and this closure confirms that. More broadly, the lack of further education provision in North East Fife is incredibly concerning.
